Getting NEW Revelation

Proverbs 29:18 (AMP) Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.

REVELATIONnoun (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary).

1. The act of disclosing or discovering to others what was before unknown to them; appropriately, the disclosure or communication of truth to men by God himself, or by his authorized agents, the prophets and apostles.

2. That which is revealed; appropriately, the sacred truths which God has communicated to man for his instruction and direction. The revelations of God are contained in the Old and New Testament.

I have been hearing new revelation from a couple of different sources. Things I had never “heard” before and that have been hard for me to “wrap my mind around.” Today I was listening to someone teach about Jesus and the things he did and I realized I was having trouble because there was a conflict between my mind, body and spirit.

We need revelation from God or we perish.  We lose hope and stop following the Lord’s guidance.  Have you ever noticed that when you get “new” revelation from the Word it’s like your mind and even body want to reject it? Your spirit gets excited but the rest of you want to continue with what it has always believed.  Your mind and body will reject this “new life” but your spirit is made alive in Jesus and reaches for that new life.

If you notice in Proverbs it actually says that if there is no “redemptive revelation of God the people perish and then it goes on to say, “…he who keeps the law of God—blessed, happy, fortunate, and enviable is he”.  So we have a choice, we can accept the revelation God gives us and be blessed, happy, fortunate, and enviable or we can reject the revelation and perish.  I don’t believe this means we die right that second but that in that area of our believing we perish (die; to lose life in any manner).  To accept this revelation when your body and/or mind are resisting your spirit you need to “feed” your mind with the Word.  Continually keep that revelation before your eyes and coming out of your mouth.  Build your spirit man up so that your spirit is stronger than your mind or flesh.  What you feed is what gets the strongest so look at what you are feeding and what your are feeding on.

Where do we find revelation? Everywhere.  Psalms tells us that God is revealed in the heavens.  We can look around at nature and see God revealed.

Psalm 19:1(NLT) 1 The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.

In Luke 2 when Simeon saw Jesus, he had a revelation of God’s salvation.

Luke 2:28-32 (NKJV) 28 he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said: 29 “Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; 30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation 31 Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples, 32 A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, And the glory of Your people Israel.”

Part of the reason we will reject revelation is that we don’t realize that it comes from God.

Galatians 1:12 (NLT) I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ.

We don’t have to be afraid of new revelation because God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us in knowing what is from the Lord. Check it out with the Word.  What is your spirit telling you?

1 John 4:1 (NLT) Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.

We should be continually seeking the Lord and looking for new revelation (Him revealed to us) in the Word of God.  You can pray for this for yourself and for others.  Paul wrote:

Ephesians 1:17 (AMP) [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him.

Trust God and the revelation He brings to you to enrich and bless your life in Him.
